Time For Some Fun: Imperial Leather Sweet Shop Shower Gels

Firstly, I’m not going to lie but I bought the bag of Squishies for the photo and immediately ate them… so I present to you the empty bag. I was at Boots last week grabbing a new toothpaste and mouthwash (such glamour); on the way to the checkout at the front of the shop was a display that clearly had been ravaged and was pretty sparse, which always catches my eye! At £1 each, Imperial Leather have launched a collection of fun and mouthwatering scents, 2 of which are classic sweet inspired! Fruit Salads, the most fruity, mouthwatering sweets on the planet and the soft, squishy vanilla flavoured creamy clouds that are Marshmallow. For £1, Imperial Leather have done a remarkable job at capturing these scents and loading them into a pretty decent shower gel. Digging down into the ingredients was a definite surprise. The 2 shower gels are based with water and…

Grounded Body Scrub Chocolate Orange Coffee Scrub

I LOVE Dragon’s Den. Since the very first series, I’ve always been hooked. I like the successes, catastrophes, business insight and witty quips from the Dragons – Deborah Meadon has always been my fave! Just after Christmas was an episode where Essex couple Lloyd Hazell and Tasha Harris presented their company Grounded Coffee Scrubs, bringing an Australian beauty buzz to the shores of the UK. After they’d unsurprisingly received their investment, I ran to my computer and ordered a bag; it arrived very quickly and was soooooo worth it. The three scents available are coconut, grapefruit and chocolate orange. The scrub is pretty much completely fresh grounded coffee (this one smelling just like a chocolate orange latte) which when applied to the skin in the shower, buffs away dead skin cells revealing healthy, fresh, new ones. If you like your body scrubs coarse, then this is the one for you. The fragrance is beautiful: coffee and soft…

Will you be my Valentine? Love And Kisses from LUSH Ltd

This beautiful, extensive and almost completely glitter-free Valentine’s gift arrived on my doorstep this morning fresh from LUSH Ltd. It’s gorgeous! Inside, bursting with LUSHY goodness for face, body, bath and shower all themed for the mushiest day of the year. For £45.95, which is pretty steep for a LUSH Ltd gift I grant you, you do get an awful lot, bound to make any potential or existing Valentine love you just that little bit more. You get: Yuzu & Cocoa Shower Cream Prince Charming Shower Cream Love and Light Hand Cream Serendipity Soap Oral Pleasure Toothy Tabs Passion Fruit Lip Balm Rub Rub Rub Body Scrub Tender is The Night Massage Bar My absolute favourite products of the range are the Yuzu & Cocoa shower cream, smelling like Terry’s Chocolate Orange but with none of the calories; Love and Light Hand Cream with its Neroli, Cocoa and Orange infusion and then Tender is The Night…

Halloween 2015 with LUSH Ltd

Boo! This year LUSH Ltd have come up with something a little different for Christmas Halloween (it’a all blending into one at the moment) rather than purely a range of bath ballistics bath bombs. No, this time there’s 4 core products including the Nightwing Shower Jelly; Lord of Misrule Shower Scream; Lord of Misrule Bath Bomb (a returning favourite); Sparkly (*sigh*) Pumpkin Bubble Bar. Nightwing Shower Jelly £3.95 Halloween is the only acceptable time to bring out the shower jellies IMHO. They’re gross with a very odd, slime-like consistency. Whilst this isn’t what I want at Christmas or Easter, this is definitely what I want to get into the freaky-spirit on Halloween. Fragranced with distilled lime, aloe gel, fresh lime juice and carob syrup, the scent is to diiiieeee for (said in the voice Vincent Price). Pull a bit off and whilst trying to avoid it inevitably falling to the shower floor and down your…

Something For The Weekend aka The Friday Bullet with REN, O’Right and Phyto

The heat is killing me. I’ve never handled heat well and in the coldest days in winter I can step out in jeans and a t-shirt. I’m just a hot person (although I’m sure many would beg to differ). I know this sounds ridiculous and “well duh” but please remember to drink more water than usual. Coffee, tea and soft drinks don’t count – seriously just water and lots of it! If the sky is clear, then so should be you pee. Phyto Plage After Sun Hair & Body Wash and Anti-Sun / Anti-Chlorine Potective Veil I did a Periscope with these two a couple of weeks ago and have been loving them. I’ll probably need to repurchase when it comes to my well overdue holiday at the end of August (so excited!). The Shampoo & Body Wash With Black Sambuca extract, coconut extracts, bambu and a whole host of other natural ingredients,…

Blackberry Jam Shea Scrub Cubes by Marshmallow Blends

I had to get these up on the blog straight away; I’m far too excited. The Blackberry Jam Shea Scrub Cubes by Marshmallow Blends arrived in my order this morning and when I removed the metal lid, the smell was just intoxicating and my saliva glands went into overdrive. Marshmallow Blends If you’ve not heard of Marshmallow Blends, it’s a homemade and handmade cosmetics business set up by South Yorkshire based beauty blogger, Nicoletta. I reviewed some of her products 3 years ago here. I’ve known Nicoletta a few years now since the early days of the her brand and she’s grown from a small online shop, to a gorgeous online shop and her own store in the heart of South Yorkshire. I am in love with her products (particularly the unfortunately discontinued Caramel Cupcake Body Scrub – it was like sandpaper, I loved it and so perfect for guys) but her current offerings just get…

Celebrating Easter April 5th with LUSH Ltd & Glitter Rant

Easter Sunday is only a week away and whether for you it’s a time of religious reflection or an excuse to stuff your face full of delicious chocolate (or both!) LUSH Ltd have you covered. But before I get onto the products… LUSH Ltd Lustre & Glitter I’ve been needing to get this off my chest for a while now when it comes to LUSH Ltd and I’d hoped the new products this easter might be different but alas, no. Over the last 2 years, LUSH Ltd have seemingly added glitter or ‘lustre’ as they call it, to almost every single product they’ve brought to market for the body. It’s horrible. And the problem is, if you put it in everything, it means nothing. It just seems as though they’re really trying to get their money’s-worth from buying this glitter machine! It’s great at Christmas in a few products when the days are…

Local British Grooming Products from Somerset with MR. SE

Firstly, hello. It’s been a good couple of weeks since my last post and I must apologise. I’ve now finally finished moving into my new apartment which has been a fun, frustrating, exciting and teeth grindingly aggravating experience – but it’s all finished and I’m back with you. So. I came across MR. SE products on twitter by chance after doing a quick search on Twitter for grooming, which I don’t often do. The products – a shampoo, soap, matte hair clay and beard oil – have been created by Daniel James, owner of Something Else Hair Salon in Somerset. We got chatting over Twitter and email and the next day, a brown Jiffy bag turned up with three of the four products in the collection as I don’t have a beard so the oil was of no use. The products are gorgeous, I have to say. The shampoo is very gentle but…

An easy guide on how to get rid of spots on your bum

This is my New Year’s gift to you all which may result in a slight over-share, but nonetheless, if spots on your bum, ‘assne’, butt pimples or whatever you want to call them are your problem, I think I can help. It’s surprising how often I get asked “how do I get rid of spots on my bum?” but it’s not something people will readily discuss. Firstly ignore all these acne home remedy acne treatments that talk about rubbing lemons and toothpaste all over the place. It’s utter bollocks and this isn’t the 1800’s; we live in the 21st century and have come a bit further than that. Don’t be so naive! Also, do not use Sudocrem on anything else other than an itchy/sore bum-hole; that’s what it’s made for and although it might temporarily relieve acne symptoms in the very, very, very short-term, in the long term you’re heading for a world of trouble. Acne/spots…

Cracking up this Christmas? Top Winter Hand & Foot Care with Clarins

It was during a meeting with the guys at Clarins that I was taken aback by this fabulous tip. Combining the fabulous and famous Clarins oils with their (or your own to be fair) hand and foot creams, you can turn them into superhero products guaranteed to stave off winter dryness. Blue Orchid Treatment Oil The Blue Orchid Treatment Oil was actually the first ever Clarins product, made for clients back in the day and requested again and again; it was this that launched the brand into the global success it has become today. It’s composed of Rosewood, Patchouli and Blue Orchid oils to balance and rehydrate deeply dehydrated skin without leaving it greasy and congested. Although designed for facial use, a few drops in the palm of your hand with your favourite hand cream or the Clarins Hand & Nail treatment cream turns it into this silky and deeply penetrating serum that restores and…

Keep Your Cool This Christmas: Sure Compressed Deodorants

I’m a sweater. I’m certain I must have a problem regulating my body temperature or something, maybe I should get it checked out come to think of it… In the meantime, I love a powerful deodorant. Until now, I’ve sworn up and down by NIVEA Black & White deodorant. The biggest bugbear for me, being a wearer of black tops, is sweat/deodorant marks under the armpits and NIVEA were one of the first brands to launch this ‘technology’. I’ve since come to the conclusions, thanks sure Sure, that it’s not all that great (I used Sure before switching to NIVEA). The Sure Invisible deodorant is the best deodorant I’ve used to date. When it says “dry 48 hours”, it’s pretty spot on. I mean it doesn’t keep me 100% dry, but, it keeps me absolutely fragrant as anything. I can put the deodorant on one afternoon and without showering and sleeping through the night,…

Introducing Le Couvent des Minimes: The New Brand from L’Occitane

L’Occitane is not only it’s own brand but is in fact the L’Occitane Group; owning L’Occitane, obviously; L’Occitane Au Bresil, unfortunately; Erborian and the widely celebrated Melvita. So allow me to introduce the new brand launching last week exclusively in Boots stores – Le Couvent des Minimes. Humble beginnings In 2004, Olivier Baussan – the founder of L’Occitane, discovered the old ruins of the 1613 french convent and vowed to restore it. The convent originally provided accommodation for botanist monks of the order of the Minims and then to a hospice by the late 1800s to care for the sick and elderly. Several years later the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary settled in the convent. To help them with their mission and charity work, Le Couvent des Minimes donates 1% of their annual sales to the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary charity, still present in 80 countries. In 2008, Olivier reopened the convent as Le Couvent des Minimes Relais & Chateaux Hotel…

Aveda celebrates 25 years of Shampure with new products

My favourite haircare brand, Aveda, is excitedly celebrating 25 years of its iconic shampoo and conditioner, Shampure; featuring an intoxicating aroma of 25 pure flower extracts that have been winning awards since 1989. Manufactured with 100% wind energy in 100% post-consumer recycled packaging with ethically sourced ingredients; Aveda Shampure is the hallmark of ethically produced products and has set industry standards. In celebration Aveda adding a hand and body cleanser as well as a body lotion featuring Brazilian Babassu Nut Oil. Both new additions feature the 25 pure flower extract scent and leave your skin feeling unbelievable. The body lotion is soft and nourishing without being overbearing and overly rich on the skin; it sinks in ultra-quickly and is great even on hairy arms and legs. The hand and body wash gives a great, gentle lather that doesn’t dry out the skin and hands. I’ve been using it as a daily body wash in…

L’Occitane launch the intoxicating Aromachologie collection

Before the current version, way back when, The Body Shop used to do a fabulous well being range with several sub-collections aimed at relaxation, energisation, detoxification and sleep in Kilner jar-style packaging, made with all-natural materials and essential oils. But, just like everything else they used to do, those products that were iconic offerings from The Body Shop; they abandoned it in favour of something nowhere near as beautiful. At last however, L’Occitane – one of my favourite brands, has brought something similar to market. This time, packing a superior punch with far better formulations; complex and sophisticated scent aromas and fabulous efficacy. I’m hooked. I’ve questioned a few of the L’Occitane launches this year with what feels like an endless stream of half-baked, same-y fragrances and then the very anticlimactic L’Occitane Au Brésil. L’Occitane Aromachologie has definitely restored my faith with such beautiful formulations and intense, 100% natural fragrances. The collection features two arms:…

Neutrogena Body Clear Body Wash: Salicylic Acid Acne Treatment with Pink Grapefruit

When it comes to high street grooming and beauty, especially when looking at local supermarkets of Boots/Superdrug stores, Neutrogena has to be one of me favourite brands. Their formulations are tried and tested; most often excellently formulated and usually available at a hell of a bargain. Neutrogena Body Clear Body Wash, a Salicylic Acid based acne treatment with skin tingling pink grapefruit extract is no exception. Unfortunately, it isn’t available on the shelves here in the UK (yet), but there are plenty of stockists and suppliers available on eBay located in the UK to choose from (mine took maybe 2 days to get here and was just over £10). Salicylic Acid (also known as BHA– Beta Hydroxy Acid) is a gentle, chemical exfoliator that’s excellent for acne and spots as you should never use scrubbers and beads which might risk scarring/scabbing. Neutrogena Body Clear Body Wash contains one of the highest concentrations of Salicylic Acid you’d…

Aesop Petitgrain Hydrating Body Gel

It’s been 25 degrees here in Huddersfield today without a single cloud in the sky. I’ve popped inside to write this as it’s started to cool down but I’ll need to nip back into the garden to water the plants so I’ll be brief. I’ve kept from frazzling in the sun today with the aid of my lovely new tube of Aesop Petitgrain Hydrating Body Gel. Now it doesn’t have an SPF, but it’s a clear-gel moisturiser that locks in hydration and helps prevent the sun’s rays from drying your skin out. With a base of aloe leaf juice, Aesop Petitgrain Hydrating Body Gel is packed with witch hazel; grapefruit peel oil; lemon peel oil; bitter orange twig oil and jasmine oil. The scent is a manly, citrus burst that’s more planty than flowery/fruity (best way I could think to describe it). It sinks in relatively quickly and you think it’s not going…

Lynx Peace: Make Love Not War

Time is a companion that goes with us on a journey. It reminds us to cherish each moment, because it will never come again. What we leave behind is not as important as how we have lived. I don’t often pull quotes from the Captain Jean-Luc Picard basket [above] but when I do, I choose ’em well. It’s not the big things in life that always make the difference, but the random acts of kindness – the small things, that change the world around us. Lynx, together with Peace one Day, an international non-profit organisation behind World Peace Day, are promoting their good work and encouraging guys and girls alike to do something beneficial and meaningful; no matter how big or small. Lynx will be celebrating peace through fashion, music and photography. Music: there will be a series of collaborations with music producer Naughty Boy. Fashion: together with ASOS, there will be a range…

L’Occitane Ultra Soft Cream Collection

Apologies it took a while to get onto this one, I received them before going to Spain and it all just got a tad waylaid. The L’Occitane Ultra Soft Cream Collection are a set of 3, 10% shea butter body creams with fragrances created by resident nose, Karine Dubreuil. The trio are Vanilla Bouquet (my favourite); Rose Heart and Zesty Lime. The Shea butter is from Burkina Faso, harvested in a sustainable and fair trade partnership with the women who produce it. I’ve been using the Vanilla Bouquet because I love anything with vanilla, seriously, I’m mad for it. It’s quite sweet and is scented from the flower rather than the dark, chocolatier notes of the pod. It sinks into the skin well, leaving no residue and doesn’t congest my often highly contestable pores. The Ultra Soft Cream also provides at least a good 12 hours of moisture and really soothes dry knees and elbows!…

Crabtree & Evelyn Hand Care Amnesty

I’m not usually one for just posting anything that pops into my inbox, if I was, Manface would be full of knitted scarves, female dryness treatments and Russian brides (a nice little insight into my inbox right there). However, something came in today that I loved the idea of and I think it’s fabulous when brands do promotions such as this. Crabtree & Evelyn are running a promotion whereby you take your existing handcream, whatever it might be (unless it’s a Crabtree & Evelyn hand cream) and they’ll swap it for a brand new one of theirs with a value of £5. How fabulous is that? So take in your £1 Nivea hand treatment and get yourself something truly gorgeous, and Crabtree & Evelyn hand creams are most definitely truly gorgeous.

Jo Loves Green Orange & Coriander Bath Cologne

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9CQEV_S7QMg I wanted to create a product that looked and felt the same as pouring cologne into the bath. After two years of trying, I have finally pioneered and perfected an entirely new luxury bathing experience. I wanted to sit writing this fresh; feeling fresh and with the Jo Loves Green Orange & Coriander Bath Cologne fresh in my mind. So, I’m sat here in my bath robe and wet hair writing this. Now, you know what a lover of Jo Loves I am; you could even say Thom loves Jo Loves and Jo’s new bath colognes are no exception. It’s a new and unique formulation that not only softens the skin and turns the water to silk, but also leaves you feeling as if you’ve applied a fresh mist of the fabulous Orange & Coriander cologne. It took me a few moments to work out how much to pour in the bath as…
