An easy guide on how to get rid of spots on your bum

This is my New Year’s gift to you all which may result in a slight over-share, but nonetheless, if spots on your bum, ‘assne’, butt pimples or whatever you want to call them are your problem, I think I can help. It’s surprising how often I get asked “how do I get rid of spots on my bum?” but it’s not something people will readily discuss. Firstly ignore all these acne home remedy acne treatments that talk about rubbing lemons and toothpaste all over the place. It’s utter bollocks and this isn’t the 1800’s; we live in the 21st century and have come a bit further than that. Don’t be so naive! Also, do not use Sudocrem on anything else other than an itchy/sore bum-hole; that’s what it’s made for and although it might temporarily relieve acne symptoms in the very, very, very short-term, in the long term you’re heading for a world of trouble. Acne/spots of the bum have always been one of my concerns, until relatively recently to be honest. I’m hairy but not mega-hairy and …

Clarins Winter Hand & Foot Care 2

Cracking up this Christmas? Top Winter Hand & Foot Care with Clarins

It was during a meeting with the guys at Clarins that I was taken aback by this fabulous tip. Combining the fabulous and famous Clarins oils with their (or your own to be fair) hand and foot creams, you can turn them into superhero products guaranteed to stave off winter dryness. Blue Orchid Treatment Oil The Blue Orchid Treatment Oil was actually the first ever Clarins product, made for clients back in the day and requested again and again; it was this that launched the brand into the global success it has become today. It’s composed of Rosewood, Patchouli and Blue Orchid oils to balance and rehydrate deeply dehydrated skin without leaving it greasy and congested. Although designed for facial use, a few drops in the palm of your hand with your favourite hand cream or the Clarins Hand & Nail treatment cream turns it into this silky and deeply penetrating serum that restores and re-plumps tired, dry and winter-ravaged hands. Also the natural fragrance is just incredible! Escentual have the Clarins Blue Orchid Treatment Oil at a …

Sure Men Invisible Deodorant Compressed

Keep Your Cool This Christmas: Sure Compressed Deodorants

I’m a sweater. I’m certain I must have a problem regulating my body temperature or something, maybe I should get it checked out come to think of it… In the meantime, I love a powerful deodorant. Until now, I’ve sworn up and down by NIVEA Black & White deodorant. The biggest bugbear for me, being a wearer of black tops, is sweat/deodorant marks under the armpits and NIVEA were one of the first brands to launch this ‘technology’. I’ve since come to the conclusions, thanks sure Sure, that it’s not all that great (I used Sure before switching to NIVEA). The Sure Invisible deodorant is the best deodorant I’ve used to date. When it says “dry 48 hours”, it’s pretty spot on. I mean it doesn’t keep me 100% dry, but, it keeps me absolutely fragrant as anything. I can put the deodorant on one afternoon and without showering and sleeping through the night, can wake up smelling fresh and ready for anything. Oh an it’s the perfect deodorant if you gym/exercise. So to the compressed …

Couvent

Introducing Le Couvent des Minimes: The New Brand from L’Occitane

L’Occitane is not only it’s own brand but is in fact the L’Occitane Group; owning L’Occitane, obviously; L’Occitane Au Bresil, unfortunately; Erborian and the widely celebrated Melvita. So allow me to introduce the new brand launching last week exclusively in Boots stores – Le Couvent des Minimes. Humble beginnings In 2004, Olivier Baussan – the founder of L’Occitane, discovered the old ruins of the 1613 french convent and vowed to restore it. The convent originally provided accommodation for botanist monks of the order of the Minims and then to a hospice by the late 1800s to care for the sick and elderly. Several years later the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary settled in the convent. To help them with their mission and charity work, Le Couvent des Minimes donates 1% of their annual sales to the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary charity, still present in 80 countries. In 2008, Olivier reopened the convent as Le Couvent des Minimes Relais & Chateaux Hotel and Spa; then launching it’s own beauty brand available as of last week, exclusively in Boots stores in the UK. Le Couvent …

25 Years of Aveda Shampure2

Aveda celebrates 25 years of Shampure with new products

My favourite haircare brand, Aveda, is excitedly celebrating 25 years of its iconic shampoo and conditioner, Shampure; featuring an intoxicating aroma of 25 pure flower extracts that have been winning awards since 1989. Manufactured with 100% wind energy in 100% post-consumer recycled packaging with ethically sourced ingredients; Aveda Shampure is the hallmark of ethically produced products and has set industry standards. In celebration Aveda adding a hand and body cleanser as well as a body lotion featuring Brazilian Babassu Nut Oil. Both new additions feature the 25 pure flower extract scent and leave your skin feeling unbelievable. The body lotion is soft and nourishing without being overbearing and overly rich on the skin; it sinks in ultra-quickly and is great even on hairy arms and legs. The hand and body wash gives a great, gentle lather that doesn’t dry out the skin and hands. I’ve been using it as a daily body wash in the shower! Aveda have also launched a Shampure Composition, a body oil for body and hair that features a rich concentration of …

L’Occitane launch the intoxicating Aromachologie collection

Before the current version, way back when, The Body Shop used to do a fabulous well being range with several sub-collections aimed at relaxation, energisation, detoxification and sleep in Kilner jar-style packaging, made with all-natural materials and essential oils. But, just like everything else they used to do, those products that were iconic offerings from The Body Shop; they abandoned it in favour of something nowhere near as beautiful. At last however, L’Occitane – one of my favourite brands, has brought something similar to market. This time, packing a superior punch with far better formulations; complex and sophisticated scent aromas and fabulous efficacy. I’m hooked. I’ve questioned a few of the L’Occitane launches this year with what feels like an endless stream of half-baked, same-y fragrances and then the very anticlimactic L’Occitane Au Brésil. L’Occitane Aromachologie has definitely restored my faith with such beautiful formulations and intense, 100% natural fragrances. The collection features two arms: relaxation and revitalisation. The packaging is fabulous in brown glass and dark brown plastics. It looks gorgeous in my bathroom and each of …

Neutrogena Body Clear Body Wash: Salicylic Acid Acne Treatment with Pink Grapefruit

When it comes to high street grooming and beauty, especially when looking at local supermarkets of Boots/Superdrug stores, Neutrogena has to be one of me favourite brands. Their formulations are tried and tested; most often excellently formulated and usually available at a hell of a bargain. Neutrogena Body Clear Body Wash, a Salicylic Acid based acne treatment with skin tingling pink grapefruit extract is no exception. Unfortunately, it isn’t available on the shelves here in the UK (yet), but there are plenty of stockists and suppliers available on eBay located in the UK to choose from (mine took maybe 2 days to get here and was just over £10). Salicylic Acid (also known as BHA– Beta Hydroxy Acid) is a gentle, chemical exfoliator that’s excellent for acne and spots as you should never use scrubbers and beads which might risk scarring/scabbing. Neutrogena Body Clear Body Wash contains one of the highest concentrations of Salicylic Acid you’d want in an acne treatment, at 2%. There are a few little beads in the mixture and I honestly don’t know why; …
